In this week’s post i’d like to talk about what my favorite genre of music is and why. As a person that has a lot to do in most of my given days, I love listening to music that makes me not only feel awake; I want to go through my day with the energy I know I have. Electronic Dance Music (and it’s never ending amount of sub-genres) has been my brain “Jet Fuel” for quite some time now. My favorite part about it, is how ever expanding the EDM music scene is. It seems like every year there is a new style/type of EDM. When you want to relax on the beach, there is Downtempo, when you want to dance, there is house. My personal favorite for the gym is Dubstep/Riddim, just because everybody needs to feel like a maniac in short concentrated doses!

Being a very long time fan of the genre, i’ve got to see and mildly experience the transformations within the industry and culture. EDM went from a very underground “what and the hell is this?” music for most, until its enormous explosion in the early 2010’s. Fast forward a decade and now it is without a doubt, one of the most popular genres in music. Even subcultures like dubstep are starting to arise to the general population. It is actually a really refreshing thing to see, just because I understand the time and diligence it takes to conjure up these three minute pieces of work. I have no doubt that the industry will continue grow in every direction, and I am very excited to see where else it goes.
